It’s been a long week, so this OpinionList is short.

Terminator 5?: Arnold Schwazenegger will star in a new Terminator sequel (Terminator 5) that will start shooting in January 14th. Apparently, this has gotten many talking about his age (65) and what this will mean for the movie. Will they actually design a 65-year old robot? I, for one, don’t care.  Yes, he might be back, but I terminated him from my mind when his maid-at-home-love-child scandal came out back in 2011.

Edward Snowden: You know [of] him. This is the man who has revealed to the world that Big Brother is not only watching us, he’s listening in to our conversations, reading our emails, and getting all of our private information. In Snowden’s own words, “The N.S.A. has built an infrastructure that allows it to intercept almost everything. With this capability, the vast majority of human communications are automatically ingested without targeting. If I wanted to see your emails or your wife’s phone, all I have to do is use intercepts. I can get your emails, passwords, phone records, credit cards.”  I’m not quite sure what to think about him yet, and I’ve been scouring the internet for some expert commentary, having the fortune to have stumbled upon two excellent The New Yorker articles, Why Edward Snowden Is A Hero and Edward Snowden Is No Hero. This is probably the biggest story of the year. Everyone’s talking about Edward Snowden and [now we know that] the government is listening.

No More Big Cats: This is what I wrote last year in  my post What’s On My Mind?, “Why has Apple named all its Mac OS X software programs after big cats?  Is it a subliminal message that they’re winning the rat race?  Is each software upgrade also a cat upgrade?  For instance, I can see why a snow leopard would top a basic leopard (who doesn’t have to deal with frigid weather).  But, is a mountain lion really stronger, faster, more powerful than a snow leopard? And what cat will top the mountain lion?” Well, apparently none. At the recent Apple WWDC, it was announced that a new wave  is coming for  OS X and it will drown out the cats, or should I say waves?

She’s What?!: Yep, she’s back. Sarah Palin has been rehired by Fox News. Jeb Golinki, a conservative writer for The Week writes a very good article condemning this decision by Roger Ailes. But I couldn’t help laughing at this statement, “Her political instincts are sublime, as evidenced by the way crowds of very honorable and intelligent Americans connected with her during her campaign.” I’m sorry, but do I have to say it? Whomever connects with Sarah Palin is not intelligent.
