Gossip, celebrity and style sites have been abuzz since 4 days ago when Kate Middleton returned clothing items, from the Kardashian Kollection, that Kim had sent her to mark the London launch of the fashion line.

Kim Kardashian was hoping to get some publicity for the line as she explained to Marie Claire, “Kate seems like a really sweet person and she’s a princess.  We love her sense of fashion. She could wear our looks and team it with one of her hats.”  I guess that Kim Kardashian is confusing her reality world with the real one.  Someone needs to tell her that no, the Duchess of Cambridge will not push her clothing line.

I am not familiar with the Kardashian Kollection nor with the items that were launched in London or sent to Kate Middleton, but a Marie Claire source declared, “Kate is hardly going to turn up for an event with the Queen in a cheap leopard-print miniskirt or gold sequinned jacket.”  Ouch!

Despite the fact that I am not a Kardashian fan and that I can understand the distaste that some may have for the Kardashian shows, I find that comment brutal and inappropriate. I first “discovered” the Kardashians (and a grandma-looking Bruce Jenner) when I went over to visit my brother and found him glued to the television set.  It was the episode where Kim goes to the doctor and asks for a butt x-ray to prove that it’s not filled with silicone.  Epic. My brother, however, loves the show.  He tells me that it’s because, in the end, they really love and support each other.  Right, and I’m the Queen of England.

Oh, getting back to the Queen, what the Marie Claire source seems to have forgotten is that Kate Middleton wore a see-through dress  in 2002 for a charity event that Prince William attended, and that thanks to that dress she is the Duchess of Cambridge today.  So what harm could some gold sequins do?  It is rather disturbing to discover that someone close to the British royalty could be so utterly rude. N’est-ce pas?

And speaking of rude, it strikes me as extremely impolite to return a gift.  I don’t care how ugly it is, the polite thing to do is to say thank you, to put it away, and to try to forget it until you can pass it on to someone who evidently does not share your taste. I guess that Kate cannot do the same, but I’m sure that it’s not because she lacks the closet space.
